Carl Redfern
Director

Carl began his 20 year career in financial services working for the Lloyd’s syndicate Wellington as a business analyst.
Carl is a Director and co-founder of Redland Business Solutions, where his in depth knowledge of technology and the financial services market has led Redland to become the market leader in T&C Solutions.
Carl has headed up major strategic projects for Redland and enjoys a very “hands on” approach to identifying solutions, being instrumental in defining Redland’s consultative and ‘shared problem’ approach to working with their clients.
Outside of the office, Carl enjoys spending time with his family, collecting early UK Dub Reggae, taking kids and dogs camping in an old Land Rover and making cider.

Joel Turland
Director

Joel is Redland Business Solutions' Managing Director, providing a clear strategy for the business to follow. His previous experience of managing large change projects and implementing significant IT solutions, provides an ideal background to lead a dynamic software firm.
Joel began his career in the GI sector but established his career providing hands-on consulting and senior leadership to financial services projects. He has well developed views on the challenges faced by distributors, product providers and customers, particularly in respect of regulatory matters.
Joel enjoys skiing, rugby and travel. |
Mick Catherall

Mick is the director responsible for all Delivery and Operations at Redland.
He has nearly 25 years' experience in the delivery and operational support of IT systems supporting Financial Services distribution and product providers. He was a founding Director of 'the Exchange' in 1991 and was Group Operations Director until 2002. He ran his own business focusing on electronic commissions capabilities before joining Redland in 2007.
Mick has the rare ability to strike the balance between technical expertise, business awareness and customer service focus. He can be described as a bridge builder between these disciplines.
Energetic, demanding and innovative programme manager, Mick is well-versed in directing all aspects of multi-million pound, commercially-focussed development projects.
He is a lucid communicator; at ease managing staff, liaising at all levels within customer organisations and discussing alternative technical strategies within the boardroom.
When not at work he can be found hiking the lanes and footpaths near Sevenoaks where he lives, or following his sporting passion; Arsenal where he has been a season ticket holder for nearly 20 years. |
Mark Walker-Smith

Mark joined Redland in March 2011 in the role of Business Development Director. His key role is to grow existing accounts and to help Redland build on their already impressive client base.
Mark has 20 years’ experience within the financial services industry across a variety of roles including IT Development, Business Consultancy and Sales Commercial Management. Prior to joining Redland, Mark worked at Focus Solutions for 9 years where he held senior roles as Customer Services Director, Commercial Director and Partner & Strategic Account Director. He has also held senior consultancy and programme management roles at CMG.
Mark is married, with two small children and lives in Lincolnshire. He enjoys the occasional game of golf when time allows and his children aren’t keeping him busy.
